I think it’s safe to say that winter is pretty much in full force and effect just about everywhere right now. I happen to be one of those odd people who enjoys the season, but I will admit it doesn’t do a whole lot for my productivity. The short days and cold air have me craving couch time with a cozy blanket and a fire like no other.
Which could be why I love it so much.
Or maybe it’s because no other season is more perfect for being home.
Like a lot of people, I enjoy that feeling of space in the house after Christmas – but I still want rooms to feel warm and cozy. So naturally, my first thought always goes to pillows and throws.
This time around I went for a mixture of soft gray, beige and white and a cozy faux fur throw.
For the coffee table, I opted to keep the pinecones that were out at Christmas, but swapped the copper bowl for a vintage silver plate (I love that scalloped edge).
You might remember the old photographs of my neighborhood taken after a snowstorm in the 40’s from last year. I brought them back out to hang over the chair. The bottom photo is of my house.
And I left things on the apothecary cabinet pretty much the way they were at Christmas – just replaced the pine branches with a couple cotton stems for a softer look.
And then of course there’s the simple mantel and fireplace that I shared last week (here if you missed it).
I have a feeling I will be spending at least a few more weekends just like this last one…
Snuggled up here…with my fire, and my blanket, and my glass of wine – and a snoring dog somewhere nearby.
🙂
Hope you’re all staying warm and cozy!

Thanks Julie! I’m certainly enjoying it this cold winter!
Replying a bit late but, your livingroom screams coziness…. You did everything right to capture that feel……and love that new picture of you! Pretty girl!,
Oh you’re too kind Linda! Thank you!
Your living room is so cozy Tonya, I just love it!! We all need to make things super cozy this time of year. Thanks for sharing and all of your wonderful inspiration.
Thank you Clara! I’m so glad you enjoyed the post!
First, I LOVE the new picture of you with “Hello, I’m Tonya” – fantabulous choice! Second, your Winter Living Room is absolutely divine. I would love to sit in that chair with a cup of coffee and chat for hours! Madame Alexander said : “Love is in the details.” Your little details speak softly of love. Thank-you!
Thanks so much Ellen! I’ll turn the coffee on!
Looks so cozy and love getting a glimpse of Alice too!
Thanks Pat! The photo shoot apparently wore her out. She got tired of following me around and just passed out on the rug. 🙂
I love your home in the winter. I think that season really fits your home and style. I love the color scheme and all the pillows and blankets. They can really change a room, can’t they? Your dog looks right at home too! Stay warm.
Thank you so much Julie! You can never go wrong with pillows and blankets. Unless you run out of places to store them and then it becomes a small issue. Not that I would know… 😉
The room looks so inviting, I’d never leave. Love seeing pictures of your pup.
Trust me Kathleen – I don’t want to most days! 🙂
Hi I also just love being in my family room with a fire in the fireplace and a warm blanket near by; I still have Xmas up but I so enjoy looking at my Xmas tree and reading my blogs. My children are all adults now and were here for Xmas; but after everyone left the peace and quiet was most welcomed. There is no place like HOME!!!
I SO miss my Christmas Tree – there’s nothing like curling up with those twinkle lights at night, right? 🙂
I’ve been staying close to my fireplace too. Ice and sleet today here. I love your apothecary chest. Just wondering what do you store in all those little drawers?
Everything! Batteries, light bulbs, pens, paper, vase filler, candles – you name it, it’s probably in there. Someone on Instagram said it best – it’s Little Crap Heaven. 😀
Gorgeous and I love the round basket hanging on the wall.
Thanks Renee! I ordered that basket to fill a huge wall in an apartment forever and ever ago and I almost got rid of it before hanging it here – so glad I didn’t!
This is such a lovely and warm room to ride out the winter – I don’t think I would mind the cold so much with the fire going and the couch calling to me to come get cozy.
I’m not gonna lie, Liz – it’s not too bad. 😉
I can just feel the warmth and coziness of your home! I always love the fresh, uncluttered feeling it has as well. The pictures of prior times adds a touch of family/ history. Your fur baby says it all 😀. Have a wonderful week.
Thank you Ann! I’m lucky to get to curl up here night after night. 🙂
Perfect…..just like you!
Thank you Patty! But I promise you I am anything BUT. 🙂
