New Look for the Farmhouse Plate Rack

March 15, 2017

I love the farmhouse plate rack we have in the dining room – it’s one of my favorite projects to date (you can read about it here).  I have fun changing it up from time to time and adding things to introduce a little seasonal flair in the dining room.

And no matter what I incorporate, the one constant has always been the plates…because…well…it’s a plate rack.

Right?

But maybe it doesn’t have to be just a plate rack…

Maybe it could sport cute little plants too…

What do you think?

I think it pulls this plant holder look off pretty well.

I found these super cute little textured pots at our local garden center, grabbed some leafy succulents from Home Depot and now I’m kind of digging the new identity.

Plate rack.

Plant holder.

This little guy does it all.

Now if only I could get it to water those little plants.

I’m basically a serial plant killer…

Sooo…

When If you spot plates back up there, you’ll know what happened. 😉

What do you think?  Are you Team Plates or Team Plants?

I like both! It’s always good to have options.

I can see vintage bottles or jars or other interesting glass containers in those baskets, too….

Love it both ways but I think I like the plates the best. I like the suggested idea of doing both!

I love the plates too – I think it’s my favorite, but the change is fun for now. Sadly the plates and pots wouldn’t fit together, but would be super cute!

I love them both, and you can make seasonal changes. I have several little pots of the faux succulents (Hobby Lobby) and every one thinks they are the real thing.

I absolutely could go the faux route once I kill these – ever the optimist over here lol – I’ll have to keep my eyes open for some good ones! 🙂

I like the plate rack both ways but I think I like the plants more. Did you make the racks or buy them?

We used little wire baskets from World Market to attach to the box. 🙂

So clever! Team plants for now, small boxwood wreaths would be cute propped up in there if the plants bite the dust. So many options. Can’t wait to see what you do next!

I always love what you do! And yes, fake plants will be your friend, too!!! Gosh, is there a way a thin white plate would fit behind the plants and it could be both? Would a paper plate work and we would never know? LOL

Sadly I tried adding the pots in front of the plates and there was not enough room. It would be super cute though!
