Random Ramblings

June 30, 2018

Umm….it’s really, really hot outside.

Hopefully you’re hanging out in some AC and doing some blog reading this morning – that’s what Alice and I are doing. πŸ™‚

Warm summer days that turn into cool summer nights are my absolute favorite.  When we get lucky enough around here to have that happen I instantly reach for this sweater.  BEST purchase ever – it’s amazing.

You should probably add to your summer reading list.  I couldn’t put it down.

I am IN LOVE!  No – not that way – I’m in love with this concealer.  πŸ™‚ I’m fairly certain I was born looking exhausted.  This stuff make the dark circles DISAPPEAR and it stays put all day long.  All. Day!   I do not lie – it’s fantastic.

Not long ago, I went back and re-watched every episode of this show.  Loved it just as much now as I did then.  And it had me totally missing my bestest girlfriends – we’re scattered all across the country, so time together is few and far between.  So happy we started an annual girls trip last summer.  Last year it was Nashville, this year we’re taking on Denver.  If you live in Denver or have ever been – let me know some of the “must-do’s”!

I’ve been cleaning out stuff and it feels so good. Purging and selling and organizing.  For months I have felt like I’m drowning beneath the weight of all the things, so I’m finally doing something about it.  If you’re local to the Chicago area and want this farmhouse plate rack (it’s a fan favorite!) for your home, send me a message – it’s for sale!

I’ve been craving this delicious dish for a while.  It’s comfort food that doesn’t weigh you down.  So perfect for summer.

I love stories.  I love reading stores and hearing stories and listening to people tell me stories.  If you’re a story lover too, you need to listen to this podcast.  Story telling at it’s finest.  Stories that will make you laugh and cry and touch your heart and leave you wanting more.

I about died when I saw this chandelier in the fall line-up.  Deliver it to my house now, please.

I really love old houses.  The old house behind this sweet blog is one of my favorites.  Classic New England and cozy coastal style – it’s  such an absolute dream.

Happy Saturday!!

Could you please let me know the size of that plate rack and the price? I’ve always admired it. . . And I have a spot for it IF it’s the right size. THANKS!

Hi Judy. Sorry for the delay. It is 36″ tall x 18″ wide x 4″ deep. I’m now asking $50. Let me know if that works for you!

Thank you for the tip on the concealer; I, too, have such dark circles that I look perpetually sleep deprived! I will definitely try it. I pinned the manicotti recipe; my stepson’s girlfriend is vegetarian, so I am always looking for recipes to create meals we can all enjoy! Hope Alice is doing well, and Happy 4th of July!

Kristine, you will LOVE this concealer. It is pure magic. And you only need the itty bittiest drop from the tube to cover both eyes, so the tube should last a long time (I’ve only been using it for a little over a month so I don’t know how often I will have to re-purchase). And the manicotti is a total crowd pleaser – so yummy!

Hi Tonya! I am staying cool in ac because the northeast is having a tropical heatwave and it is here to stay for the week-temps to 100. Anyway, I have always been smitten with your dining space (and all the others) and how much style you pack into a small space. I have a small space dining area that we just painted-wood stain trim to Simply White and pale colored walls. My style is definitely Cottage-y. I am searching for a light fixture. I want to do a small shandy, but hard to find one the right size. I was wondering how high do you hang your light fixture above your table? Wishing you a happy and exciting summer. Happy July to you!!

I think the general rule is 30 – 36 inches. Mine is hanging 30″. 36″ seems on the high side for me personally, but it also has a lot to do with the room and the style of fixture. πŸ™‚

Ugh, summer…we’ve been lucky so far, but sooner or later some heat will hitπŸ˜•. Thank you for posting that recipe! I’ve made cheese manicotti for years, but this veggie filled version sounds really good and light.

I have always loved your plate rack – so much so that I had my neighbor make one for me. It is a wonderful feeling to declutter and purge, I have been slowly doing it from the start of this year- unfortunately I like stuff – so it will take some time. It also helps that I have drastically cut back on my visits to HomeGoods & Target – I lose all self control when strolling down those aisles.

I have always been a collector of stuff too – but I finally had to face the fact that it got out of control. And I can’t tell you how freeing it is to see the things going out the door to new homes! πŸ™‚
