Do you love super easy DIY projects you can do in just a few minutes – no special skills required?
You do?
Oh good. Me too.
And I just so happen to have one to share with you today. 😉
I was looking for something to replace those old neighborhood photographs I hung up at the start of last winter – I’m not sick of them, it’s just that they include a lot of snow…and well…I’m kind of over snow and all things winter right now.
I didn’t feel like digging through photographs to find something to replace them with…
I’ll just put it out there now – this project may have been born out of pure laziness…
And I didn’t feel like digging through the basement to find something completely new to hang in their place. So, I decided to see what a couple of book pages would look like in those frames…
And then I didn’t feel like digging out an old book to rip up, so I grabbed an old dictionary I had sitting there instead.
And as I was lazily flipping through the pages of that old dictionary, my eyes caught on a small little botanical graphic on one page. I continued flipping and realized that dictionary was filled with little graphics depicting flowers and plants and trees, etc.
Flowers and plants and trees?
Sounds like spring to me.
So I tore out two pages, lined them up in each frame – I ended up liking my graphics to be off center, but that’s entirely up to you, cut the pages to fit, and then popped those frames back on the wall.
Told you there were no special skills required! 🙂
I think we all probably have an old dictionary tucked away somewhere. If you don’t, I see them all the time at flea markets, garage sales, etc. And I can’t remember the last time I actually pulled a dictionary out to look something up – I use my phone instead – so why not put some of those beautiful word-filled pages to good use, right?
All in all, not too bad for a little lazy decorating.
And this was so super-duper easy, that if I stop being lazy and get to the store, I might even grab a couple more frames (these two are from Target) and put together a couple more…

Well, my lazy little decorating heart just skipped a beat! I know I have an old dictionary floating around here somewhere….!
It’s so quick and easy – you’ll love it, Min!
You really do have a way of igniting the old creative juices…. This has me thinking about an old poetry book I have that’s falling apart. Wouldn’t a poem, either the actual page from the book or an enlarged copy, as someone else suggested, be so pretty, too?
I saw someone do this as a Halloween decoration a year or so ago with the page from the dictionary containing the word and a rendering of a skeleton. So many possibilities!
I love the idea of framing a poem from that old poetry book – as is or enlarged. Beautiful idea, Cindy!
Love this idea so much. Maybe color copy them and enlarge a little. (I’m a lover of old books so tearing out pages hurts my heart.)
We did something similar for my daughters room and color copied some of the art work that was in books I had read as a child. Color copied, then framed in all black frames. And the books are being passed down to grandchildren now..
Great post!
Copying is a great alternative if you don’t want to rip out the pages – excellent suggestion, Sharon!
What a great idea!!!! Never thought of that!!!!
Thanks Bonnie! Glad you like it!
Love those. They look great.

Thanks buddy!
Love it! I love the off center idea too.
Thank you, Julie. I felt like the off center added a little extra something. 🙂
What a great idea!
Thank you Holly. 🙂
My idea of perfect decorating! Gosh, I love it! Gosh, I am going to copy it! Thank you! And I do believe I hear Target calling my name……frames…..any excuse, right?
Absolutely, Patty! Any excuse to get to Target is a good excuse to me!
Love it! Those pages are so perfect….looks like lazy is not so bad after all!
I agree, Linda! Lazy is definitely not so bad!
Very cute idea. Thanks for sharing! I get so many ideas from you…
Thanks so much Audrey – I’m so happy to hear that!
