Creating a Fall Mantel

Do you like displays to be perfectly symmetrical or do you prefer them to feel a little more random and casual?

I definitely fall into that random and casual category.

But just because a display is casual and a little random, doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be balance.

But creating that balance can be a little intimidating, right?

If a candlestick is on the left, does a vase look okay over on the right? And if three books are stacked up over on the right – how many books should be stacked up on the left?  Should there be books on the left? And what about that empty space…

A Simple Vignette for Spring

Whenever I share a post about styling or creating vignettes around a room, readers will often write to me and say they struggle with this part of decorating.  How do you know what to bring in?  How do you know how to arrange it? When is it too much and when is it not enough?

You know what I’m about to say…

There is no right or wrong – it’s completely about personal taste.

Not what you wanted to hear, right?

I know.  I get it.  It can be a little overwhelming, and having no direction when you’re not sure what to do does not help.

Creating a Pretty Vignette

Happy Monday!! 🙂

You all know the phrase “Practice makes perfect”, right?

Well, when it comes to styling a room, I feel like that phrase sums up the process pretty well. It takes practice. Everyone has their own style and preference when it comes to decorating and design.   Some of us like a “less is more” approach to a room, while others may prefer a little more flair. Some will like perfect symmetry, and others will choose a more casual and relaxed look. With practice, not only can we start to get a feel for what aesthetic appeals to us the most, but we also gain confidence when it comes to setting up those little “moments” around a room that give a space its personality and style.
