Looking for a last minute idea to dress up your table this Thanksgiving?
Give one of these beautiful ideas a try…
I have been eyeing up the basket of honeynut squash at my local Trader Joe’s for a few weeks now. I’m not sure that I have ever seen honeynut squash before – if I have I never paid them much notice – but this year they kept jumping right out at me with their pretty, muted color and miniature size. They practically begged me to take them home.
And this past weekend I finally gave in and grabbed a few for my cart with the idea I could use them to create a pretty Thanksgiving tablescape.
And now I’m kind of wishing I was hosting Thanksgiving dinner, because I love how it turned out.
I will admit that I may have indulged in an eye roll or two when I woke up November 1st to see my Instagram feed full of Christmas trees.
But what about the rest of fall? What about Thanksgiving? What’s the big rush?
We always seem so eager to move on to the next big thing.
It’s not that I don’t love Christmas, or that I don’t love seeing all the beautifully decked out rooms, or even that I haven’t started gathering my own ideas for the upcoming season. I absolutely love having my home decorated with twinkle lights, and red and green, and all the festive cozy touches. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year and I always look forward to it.
But for me, part of what makes the Christmas season so special, is that it’s so brief. I kind of like it that way.
We will be heading back to Michigan for Thanksgiving this year, so we won’t be hosting Thanksgiving dinner, but I thought I would put together a simple tablescape to share with you anyway.
I had big plans for the kind of table I was going to do.
Pumpkins, and candles, and metallic leaves, and pretty little place settings.
But then I procrastinated.
And a bunch of my pumpkins rotted.
And then I procrastinated some more.
“The fondest memories are made while gathered ’round the table.”
I had a little fun over the past weekend playing around with a fall inspired tablescape. We won’t be having Thanksgiving in our home this year, but I wanted to share in case you were looking for inspiration to dress up your table for the upcoming holiday.
Wait.
What?
You don’t dress your table for imaginary dinner parties for fun on the weekends?
Boy are you missing out on a good time. [Read more…]
