Simple Fall Centerpiece Ideas for Day to Day

Simple Fall Centerpiece Ideas for Day to Day

I am all about using something pretty and simple to make a seasonal statement on the dining room table from day to day.  My antique round table is on the small side, so it can be easily overwhelmed – plus, who wants to move a bunch of stuff out of the way every time you want to sit down at the table?

Not this girl.

So today I rounded up some of the ways I’ve added a little bit of fall beauty to my dining table over the last few years.  All of them are simple, classic, and can be thrown together in just a matter of minutes.

Rustic Fall Living Room

September 20, 2017

Rustic Fall Living Room

How many Pumpkin Spice Lattes have you indulged in already this September?  I’ll admit that I have had a few.

When exactly did pumpkin spice become an obsession?  Did we all of sudden discover the deliciousness of pumpkin flavored everything in the past few years?  I swear, before then the only time you heard about pumpkin was in a pie.

Or maybe I just never paid attention.  Either way, I’m not mad.  I love all the pumpkin flavored things.  All of them.

Pretty much if it involves pumpkins, or boots, or falling leaves, or cinnamon, or apples, or really anything that would even slightly evoke the feeling of the fall season, I am all over that.

Creating a Fall Mantel

September 15, 2017

Creating a Fall Mantel

Do you like displays to be perfectly symmetrical or do you prefer them to feel a little more random and casual?

I definitely fall into that random and casual category.

But just because a display is casual and a little random, doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be balance.

But creating that balance can be a little intimidating, right?

If a candlestick is on the left, does a vase look okay over on the right? And if three books are stacked up over on the right – how many books should be stacked up on the left?  Should there be books on the left? And what about that empty space…

We’re such over-thinkers, aren’t we?

Pumpkins and Plaid

October 14, 2016

Pumpkins and Plaid

Although the weather has for the most part felt like anything but fall this season, I’m still going about my business indulging in all my favorite seasonal traditions.

I’ve been baking on 80 degree days.

I officially retired my flip flops for the year and wear boots no matter how warm the day is supposed to get.

I’ve been cooking up soup, and chili, and other favorite comfort food even though the evenings are still perfectly pleasant for grilling outside.

While most are thrilled to see the warm days continue as we head into the middle of October, I can’t help but be just a bit disgusted every time I see a temp that starts with a 7 or an 8 in the forecast.

I might even pout a little about it.

I feel like I’m being cheated.

Simple Pumpkin Centerpiece

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” – L. M. Montgomery

Ms. Montgomery is on to something there, don’t you think?

I, for one, couldn’t agree more.

October is by far my favorite month.

The colors.

The weather.

The comfort food.

Boots and sweaters.

Scary movies.

Leaves that crunch underfoot.

Our Anniversary (we celebrated nine years on the 6th!).

Pumpkins.

Finally Fall Home Tour 2016 – Neutral and Cozy Fall Bedroom

Happy Monday friends!

I’m so excited to be joining eleven of my fabulous and talented blogging friends for the Finally Fall Home Tour today.  You can check out the rest of the amazing tours by clicking the links at the end of this post.

The fall season is my absolute favorite and always puts me in full on nesting mode.  This is the time of year I want time to slow down so I can enjoy every single moment, and I usually add and adjust things around the house as the weather cools and the nights creep up on us a little earlier – I guess in a way I feel like I really get to prolong the season by slowly incorporating all the beauty of autumn throughout the house bit by bit. And now that the crisp fall weather has finally decided to join us, I will be breaking out the plaid and the pumpkins soon – hopefully this weekend!

Since I already shared our living room and dining room decked out with early fall touches (you can see those posts here and here), I thought I’d share a few quick changes I made to add an extra dose of cozy to our bedroom this fall season.

Dried Gourds

November 11, 2015

Dried Gourds

Back during the start of the fall season, Jordan and I took a day trip to a sweet little town away from the city known for its antiques. We had a great time wandering the shops and enjoying a break from the busy hustle that often comes with living so near a big city like Chicago.

Almost every shop that day had an endless amount of dried gourds for sale – and they came in every size and shape you could imagine. I don’t recall ever seeing dried gourds before, or maybe I’ve just never paid attention, but I found myself drawn to their rustic look, so I brought a few home with me. [Read more…]

Rustic Fall Centerpiece

Rustic Fall Centerpiece

I have the easiest fall centerpiece to share with you today. You probably already have things you can use to recreate this yourself – and anything you don’t have can likely be found on your next trip to the grocery store. I actually did this same centerpiece last year, but I liked how it turned out and thought I would repeat it this year so I could share it with all of you. 🙂 [Read more…]

A Pumpkin Here, a Pumpkin There…

October 14, 2015

A Pumpkin Here, a Pumpkin There…

It’s October, so pumpkin season is in full swing (as if you didn’t notice, right?).  It seems the world has gone pumpkin crazy the last few years – be it baking, drinking, or decorating – but it’s because using pumpkins around the house is a really simple way to add seasonal decorating to your home.  Just plop down a pumpkin and poof! – instant fall décor (and of course it makes a tasty treat too). I shared my front steps and pumpkin mantel with you last week, but the pumpkin fun doesn’t stop there! I sprinkled in some of that pumpkin love in other areas of the house too. [Read more…]
