Hi guys!
Happy Saturday. π
I treated myself with a little staycation and took some time off work (I work full time as a title examiner for a law firm – not sure if I ever told you that before) over the past few days and it’s been so nice. No appointments. No traveling. No long list of dreadful to-do’s. Just a few days to spend as I please.
It’s been pretty great, you should try it some time. π
First off – and I know I’m waaayyy late to the party on this, but – how freaking amazing was the royal wedding? I’ll admit I’m a bit bitter on the whole love and marriage thing still, but Harry and Meghan got to me a little bit. π
The sermon. The choir. The flowers (OMG). Her dress (STUNNING) – I thought it was so gorgeous on her – simple and elegant and classic with a modern touch. And that veil. I can’t even!! Her reception dress (AHHH)! Loved. It. All. I quickly became a fan of hers from Suits (great show if you’ve never watched) and now just love her even more. I’ll just say it – I have a total girl crush on the new duchess. Raise your hand if you do too.
In other “news”…
On one of my days I took an afternoon to do some window shopping. Which of course turned into shopping shopping (I was good though!) and I wanted to spend my entire paycheck in this store. Give me one of everything! How cute are these earrings? They may have come home with me…
Just started . Love it!
I don’t like to spend a lot of money on sunglasses because I constantly: a) drop them b) wear them as a headband c) throw them haphazardly into my purse, car, etc. d) all of the above. The answer is of course all of the above. These are super cute and didn’t break the bank, so I don’t need to panic every time I accidently throw my keys on top of them in my bag – which only happens about 900 times a day.
So very excited my favorite shop is back open in all its vintage glory! New location – same great goods. You need to check it out. There’s also a sweet little shop next door – I *believe* it’s called Wabi (heads up: if you’ve always wanted my large wall basket – they have something very similar) – so local area peeps get out to Barrington today for some shopping and treat yo’ self. π
Been loving this bronzer for a little “sun-kissed glow”. I love having a tan, but skin cancer sucks (I don’t have it, and I don’t want it either), so I try to be mindful of the sun. I’m extremely fair-skinned to begin with – this helps me look less like a vampire.
I washed my windows (they were disgusting) the other day and used for the first time. And when I was done – NO STREAKS. That never happens for me – and the sun was even streaming in while I cleaned – it’s a keeper.
For three weekends in a row I have brought home the “reduced guilt” guacamole from Trader Joe’s (along with their tortilla chips with sea salt and lime – yum). And for three weekends in a row it’s all been gone by Sunday evening. I’m pretty sure you get all the guilt if you eat the whole thing in less than 24 hours. Oops.
Also obsessed with this white top. Kind of think I should buy another one now so I have back-up when I spill my coffee/wine/guacamole down the front of it.
This new show is super cute. Two words: Oliver Hudson.
Every summer I pout a little bit because I don’t have a pool or a lake (life can be so unkind). So I live vicariously through this blog. Her lake house AND pool (AND blog) are bananas.
I made these tacos for dinner the other day. And had leftovers for lunch and dinner the next day. And the day after that. And the da- let’s just say it makes a lot. But they were delicious, so it was ok by me. Next time I’ll skip the shells and just eat the filling – I actually liked it best that way.
And that’s all the rambling I have for today. Have a great weekend friends!

Your home is just so charming inside and out! I stumbled on your Instagram and came here to your blog.
My favorite part of the royal wedding was the choir singing “Stand by Me.” They were fantastic, and it was so fun watching that uptight British crowd look like they had never heard a gospel choir. And tears were streaming down my face. Also the look on Harry”s face. He is crazy about Meghan.
The bride looked lovely, but can I say that the dress was ill fitting? She is such a tiny thing, and that dress needed another fitting! I was also a bit disappointed that it didn’t have some every so slight embellishments. Quite plain, but I understand that was what she was going for. The veil was amazing though!

Thank you so much, Isabella! I do agree the dress (while stunning style-wise) could have been tailored a bit better – but I thought she was most beautiful nonetheless and handled herself with such grace and poise. The whole event was just magical!

Thank you for sharing that referral to the Lilypad Cottage blog … I checked it out and love it!

Isn’t it the best? I just die every time I take a visit!

I love Splitting Up Together, great cast and so funny. Did you ever watch Oliver Hudson in Rules of Engagement 2007-2013. He was so good it that too.
Lilypad Cottage, amazing isnβt it. Love her style.

I never did watch Rules of Engagement – but I checked out a couple episodes last night on Netflix. Cute show – thanks for the rec!

I love your “Random Ramblings”. I also wanted to comment on your post about the new corbel. My dad and uncle had a booth at Wolff’s Flea Market for years. It’s a fun thing to do on a Sunday morning. I agree, it’s really like a huge garage sale, but every once in a while, you come across a treasure and prices are good. It’s no Kane County, but it’s close to home.
You house looks so great. I hope you and Alice are doing well.
Happy summer Tonya.

I totally agree. It’s no Kane County, but it’s nearby and a great reason to get out and about early on a Sunday. Happy (rainy) summer! π

Ah, lots of fun things to talk about, especially that gorgeous royal wedding! Thanks for the tip on the glass cleaner, I generally make my own with vinegar and alcohol but sometimes they can streak if you don’t use a squeegee. And I know what you mean about sunglasses! Arrghhh. Have a great weekend. And a staycation is always a good idea π
Blessings,
Elizabeth
Tonya says
Thanks Elizabeth! You really can’t go wrong with a little staycation. π

I was captivated by the wedding and didn’t think I’d feel that way but it was so magical and fairy-tale like and it came just at the right time after another horrible school shooting. It was like I needed to see something happy and beautiful and forget about all the ugliness we sometimes have to face. I loved her on Suits! And I’m praying for Alice that she will respond and heal….I know how much she means to you. Thanks for sharing your Randomness!

It WAS captivating! Such a perfect way to describe it. Thank you for thinking of Alice – she does mean the world to me. π
