Umm….it’s really, really hot outside.
Hopefully you’re hanging out in some AC and doing some blog reading this morning – that’s what Alice and I are doing. 🙂
After I painted the first nightstand for my room (see it here), I had plans to paint another little stand I already had to use for the other side of the bed.
But every time I went to paint it, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I have always had plans to use that particular stand for the guest room and I really like it in its current color – so I grabbed another little table I have had for just about ever and gave it a try instead. It was already white and the same general height as my other stand, so why not? This is not to say you can’t have two different color/height night stands (you totally can!), it’s just not the look I’m after.
Hi guys!
Happy Saturday. 🙂
I treated myself with a little staycation and took some time off work (I work full time as a title examiner for a law firm – not sure if I ever told you that before) over the past few days and it’s been so nice. No appointments. No traveling. No long list of dreadful to-do’s. Just a few days to spend as I please.
It’s been pretty great, you should try it some time. 🙂
Alice is four years old.
A cancer diagnosis was not even on my radar.
I noticed a little swollen spot on the top of her paw shortly before my trip to Mexico. She showed no signs of it being painful or that she was even aware of its existence, so I thought she maybe had a bug bite or some other minor irritation, and as my trip neared it appeared to be getting better so I didn’t think it was anything to worry about and made a mental note to mention it at her annual check up in May.
Whenever I come across a picture of a room I like in a magazine, or on Instagram, or wherever it may be, I always imagine that whoever decorated that room conjured up a vision in their head and then went to work executing it flawlessly – just the way they had planned out in their mind.
And if that really does happen for those people, I want to know their secret, because I promise you it does not happen for me. Very rarely, anyway.
Instead, I usually stumble my way through, working with things on the fly and making it up as I go. Sometimes, things fall into place nicely. And then sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle.
This time around it was a struggle.
I hauled so many things up from the basement and nothing was working for me.
I think at one point I sat down amidst the pillow covers and candlesticks and vase fillers and said, “I hate decorating”.
