I’ve been going back and forth on what color to paint a couple of nightstands for my bedroom.
First I thought black.
Then I thought white.
Then black.
White.
I finally went ahead and started with the white. It’s just paint after all – not exactly a long term commitment. And I only painted one table until I’m sure it’s what I’m going to stick with.
I snapped a few quick pictures with my phone yesterday so you could see too.
I’m still making up my mind, but I will say it’s growing on me.
Especially with the addition of that wood lamp.
Target had a 30% off sale on Saturday so I took advantage and brought home a pair of these lamps (find them here) that I’ve been eyeing up for months now. I love the warmth they add.
As for the table – it was a dumpster find from years and years ago. I can’t remember what it looked like originally, at some point I painted it brown – back when everything Espresso was all the rage. Remember that phase? I don’t miss it.
It looked like this before the weekend.
This time around it got a couple coats of Vintage Market and Design chalk paint in the color Antique.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to replace the knobs with something else. I have some wood knobs somewhere around here that I’d like to paint white as well. Now if I could just manage to find them…
So what do you think of the white nightstand and wood lamp with the brass bed? Should I stick with it or try the black?

No Black! Stick with what you have …very pretty. I ;like the idea of wooden knobs; unpainted wooden wooden knobs can be found at Loews.
I’m pretty sure that’s where I bought mine – I have a pile of them somewhere lol!
Hi Tonya, just checked your darling home on Rhoda’s Friday feature at Southern Hospitality. You have a warm, cozy and inviting home. Everybody is leaving comments on the kitchen sink, the floors, the colors, well just about everything. I’ll be back to visit.
Thank you so much Sue and welcome to the blog!
I love the white because it fits the style of the nightstand, and love how you have styled it. I have never heard of Vintage Market and Design chalk paint (have been researching chalk paints lately!) and would like your opinion on it…. actually on chalk paint in general!
VM&D is the only chalk paint I’ve ever tried. It’s sold by a local shop and has a great color selection so I’ve never been tempted to try another brand. I like the paint – it’s super easy to use and the coverage is fantastic. I’ve painted a number of different things with it – including my front door. All have held up great. I’ve also played around with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint and like that too. I will say that I have found that I like the distressing I get better with the Milk Paint though. I’ve only painted smaller items with it, but I’m anxious to try it out on something bigger.
This is a cute table. I like it how you have painted it. It all works. I do like that bed. Are you liking it any more these days?
Ugh. I want to say yes. But the honest truth is no, not really. I don’t mind it – I think it’s a beautiful bed – just don’t think it’s right for me. 🙂
It seems everyone loves the white…I do to!! Don’t think white knobs are the way to go.
White does seem to be the popular choice!
Cute table, and the white is perfect with that wood lamp.
Pat
Thanks Pat! I like the white and wood combo too. 🙂
Stick with it! <3
Thanks Anne!
I love it as it is as well but wondered about the wall behind your bed. Had you thought to paint just that wall a warm greigey color? I love your house and all the texture with wood and baskets!
I haven’t – I have to say I love the wall color more than the bed (lol) and although I love anything greige, I have to say I’ve never really been a fan of painted accent walls. The color would be pretty against that bed though!
Very nice looking…..I’d stick with the white.
White seems to be the winning vote!
Love the white and the handles are lovely just as they are <3
Thanks Sarah!
I love it just as it is…………… Gorgeous!!
Thanks Terri!
I love the white and the lamps!!
Thanks!
Lovely!
Thank you!
Stick with it, it’s perfect!
Thanks Michelle!
stick with the white….. i think that works better with the lamp base than black would…. good idea to just do 1 nightstand!!
Thanks Lynne! I’m so wishy-washy on what I want these days, I didn’t want to paint them both and realize it wasn’t the color I wanted after all. 😉
The wood lamps and basket add interest. I would leave the knobs, no white knobs.
Thanks Kay!
Love. The basket, the lamp, the rug, the color, the bedding, the hardwood floor. Looks fantastic! I painted and distressed a large primitive cupboard over the weekend. Chose black, and I’m happy with the finished product. But second guessed myself on color ( black or white) through the whole process so I know what you’re feeling!
Thanks Becky! I’m just really feeling antique black painted furniture these days – I bet your cupboard is gorgeous!
I Love the white and I like the knobs they match your bed frame
I’m still up in the air on the knobs – but that’s easy enough to change.
I absolutely love it just the way it is!!! Love the wood look on the lamps with the metal bed and the white side table. I wouldn’t change a thing, including the nobs!!! so simple, but with such great interest!!!
I agree with Bonnie.
Thanks Bonnie! It’s growing on me – little by little it’s getting to be something I like.
I love the white. Very crisp and light.
I too like the simpleness of it.
Love the white, so clean and crisp! And the contrast with the lamp is perfect!
I do love how the lamp gets to pop.
Definitely white!! Looks great.
Thanks Pat!
Hi Tonya, love the white, fresh with the bed and lamp. I wouldn’t change a thing! Happy Monday!
Thanks Judy! I do like how it feels clean and bright.
White was a good choice! Looks great with the wood lamp and the green plant with a little touch of galvanized metal. Winning combo!
Thanks Linda! It’s growing on me.
Love it. Simple and lovely.
Thanks Susan!
White! Such a striking contrast to the lamp and bed.
I agree – I do like the contrast.
I love it! Perfect!!!
Thanks Karen!
