It’s been quite the week. I have a girlfriend coming in to visit for the weekend so I’ve been super busy trying to get the rest of the house decorated and cleaned up before she arrives. I’m going to do my best to get the rest photographed and ready for posts for next week, but until then I thought I’d share the quick and easy way I dressed up the staircase this season.

Rustic Christmas Dining Room
I tried something new last year and brought out less “Christmas” stuff and opted instead to use some of my favorite everyday things with just a little Christmas sprinkled in.
Such an eye-opener.
Not only was my decorating time cut in half, but I ended up with a look that was a little less cluttered, yet still festive and cozy. Not to mention, the take-down was an absolute breeze.
I loved the simplified look from last year so much that I embraced the same thought again this year.
Rustic Holiday Decor
Are you ready to deck the halls?
Just because I’ve been waiting to get my home decorated, doesn’t mean I haven’t been scouting out all the pretty new Christmas collections. These are just a few of the items that caught me eye so far this year – all with a cozy, rustic flair.

Random Ramblings
It’s been one of those weeks.
The kind of week that is filled with long work days, and long commutes home, and appointments that were cancelled and rescheduled and cancelled again, and rainy weather, and the sudden realization that you have a whole lotta stuff to get done in just a short amount of time.
Reality never slowly creeps in, does it? It prefers to just bomb you with all the stress at once instead.
But that’s why we have lazy weekend mornings – for coffee and quiet and the chance to just be.
And do a little blogging. 😉
Rustic Thanksgiving Tablescape
I have been eyeing up the basket of honeynut squash at my local Trader Joe’s for a few weeks now. I’m not sure that I have ever seen honeynut squash before – if I have I never paid them much notice – but this year they kept jumping right out at me with their pretty, muted color and miniature size. They practically begged me to take them home.
And this past weekend I finally gave in and grabbed a few for my cart with the idea I could use them to create a pretty Thanksgiving tablescape.
And now I’m kind of wishing I was hosting Thanksgiving dinner, because I love how it turned out.
When is it too Early to Decorate for Christmas?
I will admit that I may have indulged in an eye roll or two when I woke up November 1st to see my Instagram feed full of Christmas trees.
But what about the rest of fall? What about Thanksgiving? What’s the big rush?
We always seem so eager to move on to the next big thing.
It’s not that I don’t love Christmas, or that I don’t love seeing all the beautifully decked out rooms, or even that I haven’t started gathering my own ideas for the upcoming season. I absolutely love having my home decorated with twinkle lights, and red and green, and all the festive cozy touches. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year and I always look forward to it.
But for me, part of what makes the Christmas season so special, is that it’s so brief. I kind of like it that way.
Cozy Pillows and Throws Under $30
One of my favorite things about this time of year is being able to curl up on the couch with a soft cozy throw and a pile of pillows to catch up on some reading or a favorite show.
And of course swapping out a few pillows and a new blanket is a great way to quickly change up the look of your room. I rounded up a few of my favorites to share today – extra cozy options that can easily take you through the rest of the fall season, right into Christmas, and straight through the winter.
And bonus – they’re all under $30.
Simple Fall Centerpiece Ideas for Day to Day
I am all about using something pretty and simple to make a seasonal statement on the dining room table from day to day. My antique round table is on the small side, so it can be easily overwhelmed – plus, who wants to move a bunch of stuff out of the way every time you want to sit down at the table?
Not this girl.
So today I rounded up some of the ways I’ve added a little bit of fall beauty to my dining table over the last few years. All of them are simple, classic, and can be thrown together in just a matter of minutes.

Can you believe it’s November already??
We have a few weeks left of fall and I am hanging on to my favorite season for dear life. Sorry Christmas, I love you but I’m just not ready to let go of all the fall things yet. Please forgive me.
