Fall Dining Room and a Not so New Rug

September 27, 2017

I really love my jute rugs.

Love the texture, love the color, love the simplicity – what’s not to love about a jute rug?  They’re very loveable.

Buuut….

I’ve been feeling the pull for something with more pattern lately.

I know, right?  Who would have thought.

The dining room seemed like a good place to start, so I decided to give a wool rug I had in the basement a test drive to see how I like it.  That way – even though this particular rug isn’t exactly what I had in mind – I can see if something with more color and/or pattern is something I may want to keep around for the long term.

So I took some time last weekend, and after a good hour of moving, rolling, hauling, unrolling, and walking into the chandelier over and over again, I finally got that wool rug down and the table back in place.

The colors are kind of perfect for the fall season – warm, rich and exceptionally cozy.  It definitely encouraged me to add a few more fall sprinkles around the room.

Leaves…

Warm colors…

And a pumpkin or two…

While I’m still not completely sold on a patterned rug (at least not one this bold), I do kind of love the idea of getting a larger jute or sisal rug and then layering a smaller patterned rug on top of it – then I can have the freedom to switch and swap as much as my little heart desires.

What do you think about the bolder rug for this room?

Wow… I really love how cozy it makes the room feel. Sometimes it’s just nice to change things up… give your eyes something new to look at. What better time than when the outside world is doing the same. So pretty!

Hi I”m not a real fan of jute rugs [not soft on the feet ] but I really love the “old rug” from your basement alot! Makes the room look so cozy for fall and winter! Sandee from Fairfax Va.

Those knobs! They are not really my thing but I can’t decide what I want to replace them with, so they’re still there! 😊

I agree with everyone else, Tonya, the rug is lovely…as are all the other touches you added to the room. If you ultimately decide against the rug, I’m sure someone local would be delighted to give it a good home. Cheers, Ardith

Oh! I forgot to be looking at the rug as I was taken in with all the other pretty pretties in that room! But that rug is just darn nice!!! I can even picture the moving in process of it! LOL How fun to have that beauty just waiting for you downstairs…..lucky score there!!! I actually really like it just like it is and how the colors look so nice with just everything. Looks soft, too.

Beautifully done. The rug gives the impression of all the fall colors of leaves on a forest floor. Very nature-inspired which is so appealing. Your decorations add and enhance that cozy Fall vibe. And it’s an easy switch when Spring comes! Lately in Spring and Summer I’m liking a bare floor that is easy to clean and looks cool and fresh.

You’re on to something with the bare floors Sharon. After I rolled up the jute I was like “hmmm…” It had a nice feel to it. 😊

Oh, the rug looks wonderful! Love the way it looks against the wood floor and all your neutrals….perfect! Adds just a touch of muted color and I think it pulls the room together quite well!

I love it…. love your neutral home , but I love the little pop of color in it, it still sticks with your neutral decor, the brown , tan , cream … but yet gives it that pop of color , gave it almost a richer lookin vibe to me.

I LOVE the rug. I think it’s subtle enough but still adds some color.
