But I promise you, good deals can be found there. It may take a little bit of time and patience, but they can be found. 🙂
I’m back with Part 2 of our office makeover – the desk!
For the last few months I have been searching high and low for an antique table to use as a desk in my office, but sadly I have not had much luck.
This room is itty bitty teeny tiny – coming in at a whopping 7’ x 9’ – so finding something with enough work surface, but still manageable in size within the tiny limits of the room, is tough to do.
Oh, and did I mention there is a closet in the middle of the room, so space has to be left to allow the door to open and close?
Because a 63 square foot room isn’t challenging enough, right?
I did consider removing the door, but in the end decided that was going to be a busier look than I was going for in here.
If I was forced to decorate my house from one and only one retail store, it would be Pottery Barn.
Big surprise, I know. 😉
They have everything from rustic to modern and all things in between – and they’re masters at styling a space. I can browse a Pottery Barn catalog over and over again and never get bored with it – their catalog just might be my go-to source for inspiration.

My little office makeover is in full swing – and I’m super excited about it. I finished up painting over the weekend and I thought I’d share a sneak peek at the new lighter, brighter look.
I talked earlier this year about revamping my home office.
At that time, I was working from home part time and used the space for work, for home, and for this blog – and unfortunately it was failing to function well on all three counts. I was running out of room, organization was non-existent, and it just no longer met my needs.
So, I started to work up a plan to make the space more user friendly for all things I needed it to do, and then I ended up getting pulled back into the “office” office full time.
Boo. 🙁
I pretty much abandoned that whole office makeover and stopped coming into the room altogether.
Most days, opening up the mailbox is less than exciting. The majority of mail we receive these days is advertising and immediately gets tossed in the recycle bin.
However.
There are two mail days that I find quite exciting – the day the new Pottery Barn catalog shows up and the day the latest issue of Country Living hits my door.
And if they happen to show up on the same day? Well then, Christmas come early!
Sad that this is what I find exciting in life, but it’s so true.

I really haven’t changed much in the format or layout of this blog since I started last year. Overall, I’m happy with it, but there are some things I would like to tweak a bit – one of which is to add a FAQ page.
I seem to get emails and questions on the same handful of topics on an almost daily basis, and while I don’t mind answering those questions at all (please reach out any time you have a question) – I do think I should make it easier for my readers to find the things that interest them.
While I try my best to respond quickly, it sometimes can take me a day or two, and I know how it is – when we want answers, we want them NOW, right? 🙂

Happy Friday!
I didn’t end up reading as much as I thought I would last month – I got off to a great start with a really great book, and then kind of stalled out a bit with the second.
And then I got wrapped up in a design plan (I’ve been revisiting the office re-do) and when that happens I can concentrate on nothing else – it consumes my mind and makes me just a little bit crazy – but a good kind of crazy, so it’s ok.
Now I’m so excited to get started, because I really think I like where it’s headed. Finally! 🙂
Today is not going to be one of my proudest blogger moments – but I felt compelled to share this post. Regardless of how embarrassing it may be.
Allow me to explain.
A few days ago, a friend from work was showing me some things she wanted to do around her house. We talked about it a little bit, and then she sighed and said, “It must be so nice to have your house all done and decorated.”
Done?
