French Linen for the Front Door

I mentioned on Monday that I made an impulsive decision last weekend for a front door color. I was picking up some chalk paint for an upcoming project when I was drawn to a color on the chart called French Linen (by Vintage Market & Design).

I have had numerous suggestions for brighter, bolder color choices for the front door, and I don’t disagree that they would look beautiful – but bright and bold are just not me. Monday Inspiration

Good Morning!

It was one of those weekends where I felt like I was busy the whole time, but looking back it doesn’t feel like much was accomplished. You know what I mean? I’m just not really sure where all the time went…I did a little shopping for our bedroom – didn’t come up with a whole lot, but that’s ok – it was only the first try.

I think we also have a color for the front door – so that’s exciting news!  Ok, so maybe it’s only exciting if you happen to get excited over things like paint color (which I do, of course) :). It was one of those impulse decisions as I was picking out paint for a dresser…just kind of happened. I put a couple of coats on the door yesterday and we finished up late last night, so we’ll see what we think in the daylight today.  Anyone want to guess what color? 🙂 [Read more…]

Master Bedroom Design Plan and Inspiration

Not too long ago, I did a post on our bedrooms. I mentioned then that I had a plan for our guest room (which I do), but it struck me that I didn’t have a plan for our master bedroom – and shouldn’t that come first? I kind of thought so, so I started to think about what I wanted our room to be like.

Board and Batten Shutters

Monday Inspiration

Happy Monday!

This past weekend was my favorite kind of weekend: a little bit lazy, a little bit hard work, a good amount of sunshine, and a flea market trip followed by breakfast on Sunday morning. Oh, how I love treasure hunting…and breakfast! 🙂

The shutters are on the house, we made a small dent in the yard work, and I even made a plan for some changes in our bedroom – something I haven’t been able to do for quite a while now. I’ll be sharing more about all of that later this week. [Read more…]

The Shutter Color

I mentioned on Monday that Jordan and I spent most of the weekend working on our shutters. All the boards have been cut, sanded and received at least the first coat of stain (each board needs two – more on that in a minute). Did you catch that? I said stain. 🙂

We liked the weathered look in the inspiration photos I shared last week, but agreed with some of you that we needed a little more contrast to keep the house from feeling washed out, so we wanted a dark gray stain that would provide a subtle pop, but still allow the grain of the wood to show through for the weathered effect we liked. Let’s Talk Shutters

Opinions, please!!

Jordan is going to start building our shutters, and as I do with all things – I’m completely second guessing my original plans and can’t make up my mind. I’m always so sure of what I want to do until it’s time to commit. Does anyone else have this issue? Ugh!
