A New Lantern

April 29, 2015

A New Lantern

I recently made a little update to the apothecary cabinet…again. 🙂

I had a $25.00 Pottery Barn coupon about to expire (it would be a complete shame to let that happen), so I hopped online to see what I could find and I ended up with this lovely little lantern. [Read more…]

Simple No-Knead Bread

Simple No-Knead Bread

I was visiting a neighbor the other day and she had baked the most amazing bread for us. I have never made bread before, but she swore it was super simple and absolutely foolproof, so I asked for the recipe. I tried it out yesterday and she was so right – it was very simple to do and as far as I can tell, it’s pretty foolproof too. 🙂 [Read more…]

A Change in Plans

A Change in Plans

Remember about a month ago when I posted about shopping for a new chair? Or talked about a different layout for the living room? Well, it’s kind of happening. I did not find a chair yet – every time I would see something I liked, I couldn’t commit since I didn’t know exactly what kind of sofa I would have down the road. [Read more…]

House Tour – Home Office

House Tour – Home Office

The tour continues today with the room that probably sees me the most – the office. I am fortunate to be able to work from home three days a week, and wanted a dedicated space that could accommodate the needs of my job, so we chose to use the smallest of our three bedrooms as a home office. [Read more…]

Decorating the Coffee Table

Decorating the Coffee Table

I have a few spots around the house where I like to periodically change up the dĂ©cor.   Sometimes it is a reflection of the seasons, and sometimes it’s in response to a new purchase, but often it is simply the result of an afternoon spent puttering around the house and moving things around. Making subtle, simple changes keeps me from getting bored with my room’s look. [Read more…]

Gallery Wall Tips and Tricks

After my gallery wall post the other day, I thought it might be helpful to share some tips and tricks for creating one. They can be a little intimidating to start, but they’re really not as complicated as they may seem. [Read more…]

House Tour – The Kitchen

House Tour – The Kitchen

Like most of the rooms in our house, our kitchen is small. Not only is it small (I don’t even think it is 10’x10’), but it has all the awkwardness typically found in old house kitchens, with a window or doorway on every wall. Not exactly conducive to that desirable kitchen triangle people are always talking about. [Read more…]

Gallery Wall Love

April 11, 2015

Gallery Wall Love

I love gallery walls. I love photos and artwork, signs and mirrors, etc. I love all these things individually, but when they hang as a group, I find they often have even  more impact and interest.

If you’re ever stumped on what to do with a wall, or feel your space is lacking something special, consider doing a gallery wall. It doesn’t only need to be framed family photos or a collection of your favorite paintings – mix in a favorite sign, quote, or architectural piece. Often times, things that seem a little out of place or insignificant become something special when they’re grouped with other things you love. [Read more…]
